Based in Los Angeles, USA, Maya Ixta Delgado’s passion for music has been evident since she began her professional training at the young age of 8. She has honed her skills with some of the best vocal coaches in the country and embraced her multicultural background to shape her sound and artistry.
Early Beginnings and Training
Growing up, music was more than just a hobby for Maya. It was a part of her life and family tradition. Inspired by her grandfather’s beautiful voice and the Latin music that filled her home, Maya’s talent was noticed early on. “I would often transform our living room into a stage, putting on performances for family and friends, and even creating handmade tickets and programs”, Maya recalled with a heartfelt laugh. “Growing up surrounded by Latin music, with my mother being Mexican and my father Cuban, deeply influenced my development as an artist and fueled my love for music”.
With the encouragement of her grandmother, she began vocal training and soon fell in love with singing and performing. Her dedication led her to train with renowned vocal coaches like Eric Vetro, Michael Orland, and Claire Hosterman, who helped shape her versatile vocal style.
In 2022, Maya Ixta Delgado became the youngest student to complete the “Music Industry Essentials” Certificate Program from the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. This one-year program provided her with a foundation in the business side of the music industry, technology’s impact, and artistic development strategies, shaping her approach to her blossoming career.
Recent Achievements and Music Releases
Maya’s talent has taken her to various stages, from The Grammy Museum to Radio City Music Hall, and House of Blues Dallas. “Performing at both The Grammy Museum and Radio City Music Hall were incredible experiences, but if I had to pick the most memorable, it would be Radio City Music Hall. There’s something magical about that venue – the history, the energy, and just knowing all the legendary artists who have performed there before me. When I stepped onto that stage, it was like a dream come true”.
In February 2024, Maya Ixta Delgado released her first single, Count One It’s Me, followed by her bilingual track Time in May. On September 16, 2024, she released Diary Entries, her second EP. “Diary Entries reflects my growth as both an artist and a person. Each song is filled with heartfelt, personal lyrics that I hope will resonate with others. While these songs are drawn from my own experiences, I know there are many people who share similar feelings”, Maya explained.
Personal Style and Inspirations
Maya’s style is a direct reflection of her mood and creativity. She enjoys mixing bold pieces like platform boots with baggy jeans or palazzo pants and often gravitates towards earthy tones like brown, green, navy blue, and black. She revealed a secret, “I’m a regular at the thrift treasure trove, Wasteland. People often underestimate how many unique pieces you can find in thrift stores – and it’s a sustainable way to shop”.
When not working on music or volunteering, Maya Ixta Delgado enjoys playing the piano and ukulele, screenwriting, and even glassmaking – a hobby that allows her to explore her artistic side further. She also founded the nonprofit HeARTs of Maya, which awards educational scholarships to youth passionate about the arts. For Maya, creativity isn’t confined to music. It’s a way of life that extends into every facet of her interests
