Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam (HBZVN): Dear Paloma, you debuted for Dior in your hometown, Mexico City! What was that first moment like stepping onto the runway for a brand you probably dreamed about as a girl?

PALOMA SUAREZ: It felt like a full-circle moment—getting to work with such a big brand in my home country, with most of the team being local. It made me feel very proud of where I come from and who I am. It was incredibly special and, to this day, remains my favorite job I’ve done.

HBZVN: Before you ever wore Dior or posed for Cartier, how did you imagine those brands as a teenager?

PALOMA SUAREZ: Working with both of these brands was a significant moment – not just in my career, but in my personal life as well. As a teenager, I struggled with insecurity and self-doubt. While I’m in a much better place now, this experience felt like a quiet triumph – proving those fears wrong and allowing myself to feel proud and accomplished.

HBZVN: Your Cartier Fine Jewelry campaign is stunning. What was the shoot like? Were there any behind-the-scenes moments that made you go, “Wow… this is really happening”?

PALOMA SUAREZ: The shoot day felt surreal. In one way, it was casual. Everyone just doing their job. But the moment the jewelry came out, everything shifted. Bodyguards watched closely, following and protecting the pieces. That’s when it truly hit me: Wow, this is actually Cartier.

HBZVN: You started modeling at 14. Looking back now, what would you say to that younger version of Paloma?

PALOMA SUAREZ: I would tell her to enjoy the process. Her dreams are on their way, but there’s so much beauty in the path she must walk to reach them. Be patient, and be gentler with yourself.

HBZVN: From Vogue Mexico covers to international fashion weeks, your career is on fire. What’s a dream project or brand you still have your heart set on?

PALOMA SUAREZ: One of my current dreams is to shoot a campaign that ends up on display in Times Square. Maybe it’s because I live in New York and often walk past it, but I can’t help dreaming of seeing myself up there one day.

HBZVN: You’re not only modeling. You’re also a certified meditation guide (which is seriously cool). How do you balance high fashion with inner calm?

PALOMA SUAREZ: For me, these two worlds go hand in hand. All the glam and sparkle mean little if I don’t have the right mindset to truly enjoy them. I’ve learned that the most important kind of beauty is the one cultivated within.

I travel often, work with different people every day, and strive to bring my best self to each moment. But I can only do that when I’m at peace with myself. It’s been a joy to share these practices with others and to support them on their own paths of personal growth.

HBZVN: What does fashion mean to you beyond the clothes? Is it about storytelling, energy, identity, or something else entirely?

PALOMA SUAREZ: Fashion, to me, is a form of expression. I see it in the designers and stylists. The depth of creativity they pour into their work has made me appreciate it in a whole new way. The way I dress reflects how I feel and speaks to who I am.

HBZVN: Do you have a pre-runway ritual? Something that gets you in the zone before the lights, the music, and the cameras?

PALOMA SUAREZ: Before taking that first step on the runway, I close my eyes and breathe. I think of all the work it took to get here and gently remind myself to enjoy the moment. It grounds me in the present. And from that breath forward, I treasure every step.

HBZVN: What’s one thing your fans might be surprised to know about you?

PALOMA SUAREZ: Lately, I’ve been rediscovering old hobbies. My favorites are the ones I loved as a child, like roller skating and writing in my diary. This year, life has felt like a gentle return to the past – a chance to look back and reconnect.
