Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam (HBZVN): Victoria, your passion for fashion seems to come from a deep place. What sparked your love for fashion, and how did it eventually lead you to pursue modeling professionally at such a young age?
VICTORIA HUGHES: I’ve always been passionate about fashion—it’s something that has always intrigued me and inspired me. Ever since I was young, I’ve always spent time looking at fashion magazines, watching different runway shows, and experimenting with my own wardrobe. As I grew older, I realized that this passion could be turned into something more than just a hobby. The opportunity to start modelling at a young age opened doors for me to share my love for fashion on a bigger scale, and I never expected to be featured in global magazines worldwide! It’s been such an amazing journey, and it’s only the beginning for me.

HBZVN: You split your time between London and Dubai. How do these two cities influence your personal style and approach to fashion? Are there any particular cultural elements from each city that inspire you?
VICTORIA HUGHES: Both London and Dubai have significantly influenced my personal style. London is all about blending high fashion with street style, giving me the freedom to experiment with different looks while staying grounded in classic styles. Dubai, on the other hand, is vibrant and luxurious, with a touch of glamour that inspires me to embrace bold, eye-catching pieces. The cultural fusion in both cities encourage me to incorporate different fabrics, colours, and accessories into my outfits, which has helped me evolve my fashion identity. It’s all about mixing timeless elegance with modern edge.
HBZVN: You’ve been praised for combining philanthropy with fashion. Could you share more about a charitable project that you’re particularly proud of?
VICTORIA HUGHES: Fashion gives me a platform to do more than just look good—it gives me the chance to give back. I’m particularly passionate about supporting sick people and underprivileged children in other countries. I plan to get more involved in charity work in these areas. My first project focused on children with cancer in the UAE and I found this extremely rewarding. It’s something I really want to focus on in the future, and I hope to be able to make a positive impact. As I grow in my career, I’ll be looking for more opportunities to get involved with these causes and make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most.

HBZVN: You’ve mentioned looking up to inspiring figures like Gigi Hadid, Taylor Hill, Adriana Lima, and Gisele Bündchen in modeling, and Cristiano Ronaldo and Angelina Jolie in philanthropy. What is it about these icons that resonates with you the most, and how do they influence your own journey both in fashion and your charitable work?
VICTORIA HUGHES: I’ve always admired models like Gigi Hadid, Taylor Hill, Adriana Lima, and Gisele Bündchen. From a young age, I looked up to them and saw them as role models. Their success in the fashion industry inspires me to pursue my dreams with the same dedication and passion. The way they carry themselves with confidence, both on and off the runway, makes me want to work hard to achieve my own goals in modelling. I truly aspire to be like them when I’m older, and it would be amazing to walk in their footsteps. On the philanthropic side, I admire how Cristiano Ronaldo and Angelina Jolie use their influence to help others. Their charity work has motivated me to get involved in giving back as well, and it’s something I want to do alongside my fashion career. They’ve shown that success isn’t just about personal achievements, but about lifting others up.

HBZVN: In your opinion, what is the most important quality for someone to succeed in the fashion industry, especially when starting out at a young age like you did?
VICTORIA HUGHES: I think the most important quality is resilience. The fashion industry can be incredibly competitive, especially when you’re starting out at a young age. There will be challenges and rejections along the way, but staying true to yourself, learning from every experience, and never giving up are what truly lead to success. It’s also important to be adaptable and open to new opportunities, as the industry is always evolving.
HBZVN: What kind of role or project would be your dream to work on in the future, whether in fashion, acting, or even a new field altogether?
VICTORIA HUGHES: I’ve been doing runway walks in my room since I was younger, and my goal is to be a runway model walking for major designers. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of and I’m working hard to achieve that goal. In addition to fashion, I’d love to explore acting more as I get older, particularly in places like New York or Los Angeles. I’ve always had a passion for acting and would love to take it further. Another interest of mine is criminology, and I plan to study psychology in the future with the goal of becoming a private investigator. I’m excited about the future and all the opportunities to pursue these dreams in both fashion and criminology.

HBZVN: Now, I know you’ve had a deep love for runway shows and catwalks for years. Can you tell us more about that?
VICTORIA HUGHES: Yes, I’ve always been fascinated by runways and the fashion world. I’ve been dreaming about walking on those stages since I was a little girl. There’s something so electric about the energy backstage, and then stepping out into the spotlight—it’s just such an adrenaline rush. The thrill of walking the catwalk and showcasing the beautiful designs is like nothing else. I’m determined to continue growing and pushing myself to the next level. Being on a major runway is definitely a dream of mine, and I’m excited to see where that journey takes me.
